6 Days Lake Nakuru & Naivasha
In just three days you’ll get to explore all the color, wildlife, and diversity of these two attractive Rift Valley lakes. Freshwater Lake Naivasha hosts hippo and other aquatic life attracted to its shores. Lake Nakuru is alkaline, drawing in bright, pink flamingoes, pelicans, kingfishers and ostriches. Making both these lake areas even more exciting are the herds of wildlife surrounding their shores – wildlife like zebra, giraffe, rhino and even lion, leopard and cheetah. This mini safari boasts a wonderful variety of animals for you to spot. Advance reservations are no problem – just call and we’ll book your tour.
Discover the incredible warmth and resilience of the children at the home. Engage in activities that nurture their growth and well-being, forging bonds that transcend language and culture. Through your time and presence, you have the power to ignite their spirits and create moments of pure joy.
Lake Nakuru National Park is a fascinating mix of dazzling birdlife with the more traditional land-based safari wildlife. There’s a rhino sanctuary that features a large population of white and black rhino. You can also find the rare Rothschild’s giraffe feeding in the park’s acacia forests. Other unexpected surprises moving over its shores and through its woodlands – waterbucks, hyenas, baboons and monkeys.
There’s so much to see and do at Lake Naivasha and close-by Crescent Island Sanctuary. Besides going on game drives in your 4 x 4 Jeep, you may find yourself taking a boat safari and a walking safari to get up close to the wildlife. All of this in two very active days filled with new sights and new memories for you.
Day 2 - Saturday: Arrive at the children's home and receive a heartfelt welcome from the staff and children. Engage in various activities, such as educational sessions, playing games, and participating in creative projects, fostering meaningful connections with the children. Share meals and stories together, experiencing the love and warmth of the children's home.
Day 3 - Sunday: Begin the day by attending a local church service, embracing the African way of worship. Immerse yourself in the uplifting songs, inspiring sermons, and spiritual atmosphere. Break bread and mingle with the locals, connecting with the community on a deeper level. Return to the children's home and continue engaging in activities that contribute to the well-being and development of the children.
Day 4 - Monday: Nyahururu - Lake Nakuru National Park
Wake up to a heartfelt breakfast at the children's home.
Depart from Nyahururu in the morning. You’ll enjoy a full day of game drives over the stunning terrain of Lake Nakuru Park. This is a place of great rocky escarpments, waterfalls, forests, wooded hills and of course, the lake itself. Besides the flamingoes, you’ll be treated to flocks of storks, herons, eagles, and pelicans.
The birdlife is profuse but so is the land-based wildlife and you may see some of the larger species like rhino, buffalo and possibly lion.
Lake Nakuru is compact which only increases our chances of spotting the great variety of animals that inhabit this very diverse park. This shallow Soda Lake has been famous for its flamingos but has also retained its reputation as an ornithologists’ delight with more than 400 species of bird found here. You may get out of the vehicle at the lake shore to get a closer look at the birds. The nearby cliffs offer sightings of baboons, birds of prey and scurrying hyraxes, as well as great views of the park. The national park covers 180 sq km and is home to warthogs, waterbuck, buffaloes, reedbucks, and the occasional leopard as well as white and black rhinos which were introduced to the park some years ago. Dinner and overnight at lodge.
Day 5: Lake Nakuru – Lake Naivasha We’ll enjoy more bird and game viewing around the lake and through the environs of the park. Then, we’re off on a short drive to Lake Naivasha. We’ll get to experience a boat safari across the lake as we sail past hippos, birdlife and perhaps spot grazing zebra and antelope on the shore. But also keep an eye out for buffalo, eland, impala and occasionally leopard.
Then, we’ll take a special trip to nearby Crescent Island Game Sanctuary – a beautiful private reserve that is filled with animals, mostly gentle grazers. The Sanctuary’s naturalist will take us on a guided walking safari to view the herds of wildebeest, waterbuck, zebra, gazelle and more. We conduct you for an evening walk around the lake and then return for dinner and overnight at the Lodge.
Day 6: Lake Naivasha - Nairobi After breakfast at the lodge, we leave for Nairobi. We drive slowly and make stop-overs along the way to allow you enjoy the beauty of the Great Rift Valley. We arrive in the capital city early afternoon and drop you at the airport/place of your choice within Nairobi.
